One in three of Dr. Neil Nedley’s patients struggle with depression or anxiety. As an internist, his job was to get to the bottom of it all. His patients would continually come to him with the epidemic of depression that was sweeping society. Through his ongoing study of the latest scientific research related to diseases of the mind, combined with years of clinical experience, Dr. Nedley committed himself to finding the root causes of depression rather than just anesthetizing the symptoms with medicine.
As Dr. Nedley studied major depression, he discovered myriads of causes. Yet, although he found well over 100 causes, most of these fell into one of ten categories. Discovering which of these ten categories are operative in each patient not only helps to eradicate depression or anxiety, but also helps each person to achieve peak mental performance. Dr. Nedley found it takes four categories of “hits” being operative for mental health to decline significantly. (Note that under each category there might be three or four things active, but that still means only one “hit.”)
Comprehensive healing takes a holistic therapeutic approach. We are committed to examining the relationship of your body, mind, and spirit so that a lasting cure can be found.
A cognition is a thought or perception. Your cognitions are the ways you are thinking about things at any moment, including this very moment. These thoughts have a significant impact on how you feel, which in turn has a significant impact on how you “behave.”
Many feel that they aren’t smart enough, attractive enough, wealthy enough, or motivated enough to feel happy and fulfilled. Although there may be elements of truth in these thoughts, they have the tendency to make us victims–because we think the causes result from something beyond our control. In contrast, you can change the way you think about things and you can also change your basic values and beliefs. When you do, you will often experience lasting changes in your mood, outlook, and productivity.
Research has documented that negative thoughts which cause emotional turmoil nearly always contain gross distortions. The thoughts on the surface appear valid, but you will learn that they are irrational or just plain wrong and that twisted thinking is a major cause of suffering.

Renew your mind through healthy meditation that enhances your entire brain, including the front-thinking part of your brain, the frontal lobe. You will be given time each day to focus on these exercises, both alone and with others.
Listening to certain types of music can help to improve mental cognition and function. Attend enjoyable music sessions with live professionally-trained musicians. You will also be given opportunities to participate in music and learn how it can challenge and enhance your mind.
Enjoy amenities such as saunas, salt scrubs, water therapies, and foot baths. You are here to be served. Take advantage of the facilities; your mind and body will thank you.
Morning exercise training is lead by a fitness coach, where everyone participates to the extent of their ability. Stretch the body as well as the mind through daily stretches led by your fitness coach. Time will also be given for walking and hiking throughout your stay.
Hear the birds singing and trees whispering. You will be encouraged to get to know the setting around you. Hike nature trails, sit in the sun, or swim in peaceful summer streams. Breathe in the fresh air and watch the stars at night. These opportunities will be sure to thoroughly reinvigorate your spirits.
Get your hands busy. Practice skills such as gardening, clay molding, cooking, sports and games, playing music, and other activities. Research has shown spending time in a 3-D environment every day will benefit the mind.
Increasing blood flow within the body and to the brain will help your mind wake up and improve more rapidly. These stimulating treatments will be administered specifically, according to each participant's needs and conditions.
The Nedley Depression and Anxiety Recovery Program™ leaves no stone unturned in determining the exact cause and precise brain chemistry of the patient to be reversed and fixed. You will receive extensive laboratory analysis with other comprehensive tests and expert evaluations of your current physical, and mental/emotional health, including extensive genetic/epigenetic testing. You will find out what genetic flaws you may have, and how to turn off those bad genes through nutrition, lifestyle, and cognitive approaches.
The typical lengthy trial-and-error approach is unnecessary, since Dr. Nedley’s approach will reveal which medications, supplements, cognitive approaches, and other therapies will be best for each individual patient. The frontal lobe is enhanced through lifestyle methods. This can also enhance practical spirituality, which improves self-control and the ability to manage your emotions, instead of your emotions managing you.
